it all depends where in nor. cal you want to go but pismo beach allows you to camp right on the beach camp fire and all. hope that helps

On Tomales Bay, CA

Point Reyes National Seashore: Leave the car campers in the dust, and paddle off to a boat-in-only beach on Tomales Bay. The crew at Blue Waters will rent you a kayak, and, for an extra fee, even boat in and set up your gear, then cook you dinner. [indent here] Newport Beach is one of the main coastal beauties of California. It's home to Newport Bay, which accommodates more than 9,000 boats of many different variations. It offers exceptional fishing, surfing, swimming, and many other aquatic activities. It's also home to many other attractions, such as the Orange County Museum of Art. [Indent here] Knott's Berry Farm is a family oriented theme park located in Buena Park, California with many rides and attractions that vary greatly in themes and styles. Some themes include a ghost town, mexican-style village, and a boardwalk originally themed as a "gypsy camp". "Knott's Halloween Haunt" is an annual event celebrated at the park that has been drawing vast crowds from all around since 1973. During this time of year, the park gets re-themed haunted house style, with mazes and scare zones. [indent here] Disneyland is one of the most extravagent and brilliant theme parks, located in Anaheim, California. It's theme is a magic kingdom where parents and children can escape to and have fun together. There are many different "realms" within the main complex that have their own theme and environments from different invisions of Walt Disney. Any of the coastal communities of Encinitas, Carlsbad, Lucadia, etc are some of the nicest places to live in North San Diego county. Carlsbad and Encititas are ideal for you. The beach area has tons of resturants as well as shopping.

Nice, less expensive places, can be found a liitle bit inland in Vista. Tri-City Medical Center is on the border of Vista. Most people consider that area Vista.
Stick to the areas south of Route 78. The closer to Carlsbad, the better.

Certain parts of Oceanside are undesirable so be wary of living in Oceanside.

i currently live in huntington beach, in orange county and i love it. the beach is 5minutes from my house and disneyland is just 15 minutes. LA is about a half hour away. there is a main street with nightlife every night and it doesn't end. but this all depends on what you think is fun. i also grew up near Sacramento which is about 2 hours from san fran and an hour away from the beautiful lake tahoe. this is a must see if you want to live in nature. my opinion is to not move to sandiego because it is too far away from every where else in california.

L.A. would have to be the "funnest" place. It has Disneyland, Universal and all of those comedy clubs, those three things bring fun and laughter to a lot of people.
